In the wake of the Supreme Court’s unanimous dismissal of the giant sex discrimination class action suit against Walmart, Nelson Lichtenstein is out with an editorial about Walmart in the New York Times that calls Walmart’s employee culture and environment.  Lichtenstein calls Walmart’s style an ominous system wherein “executives pressure store-level management to squeeze more and more from millions of clerks, stockers and lower-tier managers.”

He goes on to note that:

“The sex discrimination at Wal-Mart that drove the recent suit is the product not merely of managerial bias and prejudice, but also of a corporate culture and business model that sustains it, rooted in the company’s very beginnings.”
